Where to Stay in Gangnam — Luxury & Business Hotels (2026)
Gangnam-gu is Seoul's premium business and luxury district — home to COEX Mall, Starfield Library, Bongeunsa Temple, high-end dining strips, and the headquarters of Korea's biggest entertainment companies (SM, YG, HYBE). Hotels here lean toward the upper end: international brand chains, business hotels with full conference facilities, and boutique properties catering to corporate travelers. Subway lines 2 and 9 connect Gangnam to the rest of the city efficiently.
Why stay in Gangnam
Gangnam is the right base if your priorities are luxury, business facilities, or proximity to the COEX district. The area's hotels consistently offer full-service amenities — airport pickup, business centers, rooftop pools, and multi-restaurant dining — that mid-range properties elsewhere in Seoul rarely match. The neighborhood itself is clean, walkable, and quieter than Hongdae or Myeongdong after midnight. For travelers with a K-pop focus, the SM, YG, and HYBE buildings are all within a short taxi ride, and the HYBE Insight museum is the area's standout fan experience.
Who Gangnam suits — and who it doesn't
Good fit: Business travelers (most conference venues and corporate offices in Seoul are concentrated in Gangnam-gu), luxury seekers (highest concentration of five-star international chains), and shoppers (COEX Mall is one of the largest underground malls in Asia). Poor fit: Budget travelers — even mid-range hotels in Gangnam cost considerably more than comparable options in Hongdae or Jongno. The area also feels more corporate and less atmospheric than the historic neighborhoods north of the Han River. Getting to Gyeongbokgung from Gangnam takes 25–30 minutes by subway; from Jongno, it's a short walk. Incheon Airport via transit requires a change at Seoul Station — budget 75 minutes from central Gangnam.
