Pentaport has hosted Muse, The Killers, Weezer, Nine Inch Nails, and dozens of top Korean acts since 2006. It's the closest thing Korea has to Glastonbury — and it's only 40 minutes from Seoul.

Camping

Pentaport offers an on-site camping zone adjacent to the festival grounds. It's the cheapest accommodation option and puts you in the middle of the festival community.

  • Bring your own tent — the camping add-on just gives you access to the zone
  • Facilities: Shared toilets and basic showers (expect queues)
  • Electricity: Limited charging stations — bring a power bank
  • Security: 24-hour security at the camping zone entrance
  • Check-in: From Friday 10:00 AM

Pro tip: If you don't have a tent, buy a cheap one at Daiso (the Korean dollar store) — 2-person tents cost ~15,000 KRW. Not luxury, but it works for 2 nights.

Food & Drink

  • Inside the festival: Food trucks and vendor stalls — burgers, fried chicken, tteokbokki, pizza, ramen. Beer tents serve Korean and imported beers. Expect festival prices (8,000–15,000 KRW per item).
  • Outside: Songdo has malls and restaurants within walking distance — Triple Street Mall is 10 min away with Korean chains and fast food.
  • Convenience stores: CU and GS25 near the venue. Stock up on water and snacks before entering.
  • Re-entry: Check if your ticket allows re-entry — some years you can leave and return with a wristband.

Survival Tips

  • Rain gear is essential. Late July = monsoon tail. It WILL rain at some point. Bring a poncho (not umbrella — blocks views). Wear shoes that can get wet.
  • Sunscreen for daytime sets. No shade on the festival field. Hat + sunscreen + water.
  • Power bank. Your phone will die. Bring a fully charged power bank — 20,000mAh minimum for 3 days.
  • Earplugs. Protect your hearing. The main stage is loud. Korean Daiso sells foam earplugs for 1,000 KRW.
  • Bring a folding chair or mat. For resting between sets. The ground gets muddy if it rains.
  • Cash + card. Most vendors take both, but bring cash as backup.
  • Mosquito repellent. Evening + grass + July = mosquitoes.
  • Learn the subway schedule. Last trains from Central Park Station are around 23:30–00:00. If music runs late, you may need a taxi.

FAQ

Is Pentaport good for non-Korean speakers?

Yes — it's one of Korea's most international festivals. Signage is in English, international acts perform in English, and you'll meet plenty of expats and tourists. The atmosphere is welcoming.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Water bottles are usually allowed. Outside food and alcohol are typically prohibited. Rules vary by year — check the official website closer to the festival.

Is it family-friendly?

Daytime sets are fine for older kids (10+). Evening gets loud and crowded. Not recommended for young children.

What if it rains?

The festival runs rain or shine. Koreans are used to monsoon rain at outdoor events — come prepared with rain gear and you'll have a great time.

How does it compare to other Korean music festivals?

Pentaport is the biggest rock/indie festival. For K-pop, look at Waterbomb. For EDM, Ultra Korea. For beach vibes, Busan Sea Festival. Pentaport is for people who actually care about music.
